Golf Green is one of the biggest conglomeration of flats in South Kolkata having 12,000 residents in 3500 flats covering an area of 48 acres. The area is located besides Door Darshan Kendra, Kolkata and is within 1 km of Tollygunge Metro station and ½ km of Jadavpur University and with the natural ambience, houses peace-loving people who understand and appreciate our culture, our tradition. The enthusiasm and dedication of the residents who are busy in their respective fields know no boundaries when it comes to organizing cultural events be it on Independence Day, Rabindra Jayanti, Nazrul’s Birthday or on a religious festival like Holi. The most noteworthy of all these activities is our Durga Puja, being organized for the 43th year by Golf Green Sarodotsava Committee (Phase- II, V, VI & Golf Plaza). 

Several personalities of National and International repute are residents of our Complex and are actively involved in the festival  including , Sri Bibhas Chakraborty (Renowned Theatre personality), Smt Bratati Bandopadhyay (renowned recitation artist), Sayonee Ghosh (Actress & Member of Parliament),) Smt Urmila Bhowmick (Renowned Dancer and TV Personality), and Dr. Amal Kumar Chakrabarty (Ex Sheriff of Kolkata).

Our Puja : Our Durga Puja has been praised for the active participation of the residents and such spontaneity and warmth have been the gelling effect for bringing together residents of all caste and creed and the same has also been acknowledged by different juries. Our Durga Puja has been awarded different prizes over the years some of which are noted below.

With your blessings and active support, our puja reached a new dimension in recent years, some of the key milestones are summarized below.

• Best idol in 2023 blessed with numerous awards and showcased in hoardings across the state of West Bengal by Kolkata International Film Festival. 
• Best idol in 2022 with numerous awards now preserved in “Maa Fiire Elo” museum
• Showcased by administration: Golf green Sarodotsava Committee idol and presentation in Unesco march was highlighted in various prestigious presentations which include G-20 official video of Government of West Bengal, Kolkata Sree award in Town Hall.   
• Highly appreciated Pandal:  in the form of an Art Installation by renowned artist,  
• Yearlong promotions : Banner Unfolding, Khuti puja and Social Welfare programs. 
• Mega campaigns : Outdoor banners jointly with media sponsors erected at numerous locations throughout Kolkata, PR through social media platforms to popularize the puja. 
• 32 top category awards. Recipient of 24 best awards of durga puja in 2023. These include Biswa bangla, Kolkata Sree, Times of India, ABP Sarod Shrestho, Greates Show on earth, Indian medical Association among others.  Well appreciated by opinion leaders.  

Social Work : The committee is well known and appreciated for year long social activities. There is a separate convenor with specific activities every month 

• Reaching out to senior citizens – Help Desk for senior citizens in the locality and providing medicines, food and other services. Association with Kolkata Police “Pronam” program.   Celebrating the puja with residents of old age  home “Naba Neer” with cultural program and bhog.
• Helping hand to Destitute women – Providing convenience including sari and food to the shelterless and destitute women on different occasions throughout the year. 
• Building future for Orphan & street children – Distribution of clothes and blankets to the needy, arranging for Pushpanjali and providing books and financial support to needy students from different schools in Ward95 of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
• Dengu awareness campaign –  Helped KMC to have Dengu under control by various measures in an area which was reported as a very high prevalence locality. Appreciated and awarded on many occasion for this activity
• Tree plantation : Three activities are arranged every year for tree plantation. The committee has ensured that the damages of Amphan and other disasters are entirely reversed. 
• Blood Donation Camps – participated in Forum for Durgotsav Blood Donation, Arranged an only women blood donation camp. 
• Dhaker Lorai competition has been organized by Golf Green Sarodotsava Committee for the last five years for the dhakis of different pujas in Kolkata with the aim of providing recognition and financial relief to these persons who remain distanced from their families during the Pujas.
• Medical Camps A yearlong activity in collaboration with KMC ward 95 health officer. Recent partnership include
  • Free Health Checkup camp in collaboration with renowned Hospitals  
  • Free Dental clinic in collaboration with Dr R Ahmed Dental College
  • Free cancer awareness camp in association with renowned Oncologists

Media and Social Media presence 

The puja is covered live by DD National during the Ashtami and Dashami puja during the last few years. Also,several local television channels and Newspapers publish news along with reviews. National news channels like NDTV, Aajtak, News18 and others regularly cover this puja. 

The facebook page and whatsapp group remains active throughout the year and has thousands of views in facebook live during the pujas.
