Our Community

Golf Green is one of the largest residential complexes in South Kolkata—spread across 48 acres with over 3,500 flats and 12,000 residents. Nestled beside Doordarshan Kendra and close to Tollygunge Metro & Jadavpur University, the community thrives in a natural, peaceful ambience where culture and tradition are deeply valued.

The Festival
Started over four decades ago, the Golf Green Sarodotsava Committee (Phases II, V, VI & Golf Plaza) has been organizing Durga Puja for 44 years. What began as a neighborhood celebration has grown into one of South Kolkata’s most renowned Pujas, admired for its artistry, creativity, inclusivity, and community spirit.

Many eminent personalities, including Sri Bibhas Chakraborty (theatre), Smt. Bratati Bandopadhyay (recitation), Sayoni Ghosh (actor & MP), Smt. Urmila Bhowmick (dance & TV), and Dr. Amal Kumar Chakrabarty (Ex-Sheriff of Kolkata), are proud residents and active participants.

Achievements & Recognition

2023: Winner of 24 top awards, including Biswa Bangla, Kolkata Sree, Times of India, ABP Sarod Shrestho, Indian Medical Association, and The Greatest Show on Earth. Idol featured in hoardings across West Bengal via Kolkata International Film Festival.

2022: Best Idol winner, preserved at Maa Fiire Elo Museum.

International Recognition: Idol and presentation featured at UNESCO marches, G-20 official video (Govt. of West Bengal), and Town Hall’s Kolkata Sree Award.

Media Coverage: Live coverage by DD National, NDTV, Aajtak, News18, ABP, and other leading channels, with thousands engaging on Facebook Live and WhatsApp community updates.

Social Responsibility

The Puja is not just about celebration—it is a year-round commitment to society:

Senior Citizens: Helpdesk, medicine & food support, association with Kolkata Police Pronam, celebrations with Naba Neer old-age home.

Women in Need: Saree and food distribution for shelterless and destitute women.

Children: Books, clothes, financial aid, and Pushpanjali arrangements for orphans & street children.

Health & Wellness: Free medical camps with leading hospitals, dental clinics, cancer awareness, and women-only blood donation drives.

Environment: Dengue awareness campaigns, year-round tree plantation drives, and post-Amphan restoration.

Cultural Support: Dhaker Lorai competition for Kolkata’s dhakis, providing recognition and financial aid.

Spirit of Togetherness
The active participation of residents across ages, professions, castes, and creeds is what makes Golf Green Puja unique. It is a festival where worship meets culture, creativity blends with tradition, and social responsibility walks hand in hand with celebration.

The president of the Durga puja is Shri Tapan Dasgupta who is also the Councilor of KMC Ward95 and a noted social worker commented “This is the 43rd year of our puja and we have progressed to become one of the better pujas of the city. The theme this year shall be unique and has potential to take the puja to the next level. We have augmented our social work and are focusing on inclusive development of the distressed and underdeveloped section of the society which includes old age homes, destitute women, street children’s besides routine activities like blood donations, health checkups and environment related activities”.
