Amader Prithibi Amader Pujo
Our MissioN
‘Amar Prithibi Amar Pujo’ represents a beautiful scene from nature depicting the colours and vibrancy that Mother Earth has gifted us. We are instantly transported to a world of trees, flowers, waterfalls that bring so much joy to our hearts. It is in the midst of this magical forest, almost hidden between the colorful leaves, that Ma Durga sits on a bed of flowers. The ‘Trinayan’ that stands out admist the peaceful setting is an important reminder that Maa’s divine presence is everywhere.
Beyond the visual treat , ‘Amar Prithibi Amar Pujo’ is portraying a significant meaning aswell. We all revere Maa Durga and yet due to our busy lifestyles, we often neglect her blessings in form of this beautiful the world. In our urban cities, we have become habituated to wastage and rely on a cycle of constant consumption, forgetting the load that it puts on our natural resources like water. This is true for our daily life as well as for festive occasions. There was once a time when our mothers and grandmothers would reuse everything, thoughtfully transform waste into wonder. Yet today, we no longer value those practices—opting for easy solutions or unsustainable materials for every need, as individuals and as a community.
But change also starts with us! And ‘Amar Prithibi Amar Pujo’ is symbolic of that change. Over 800 families at Golf Green contributed their old/unwanted clothing and materials, which was tirelessly transformed by a talented all-women team into this beautiful installation. By reusing over 300 kg of fabrics (which would have otherwise been wasted or discarded) and by not putting any demand of new material on Mother Earth, this pandal is truly sustainable to its core. But more importantly, this initiative served to bind each member of the locality closely to the pandal, so they can say proudly ‘Amar Pujo’.
‘Amar Prithibi, Amar Pujo’ is a testament to the beauty of upcycling and reusing. It sends out a strong message that the welfare of the world lies our hands. And it is by loving our world, that we continue to serve Maa throughout the year.
